In short

You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, email or any other details to use the calculators. Everything you enter is worked out in your own browser.

The site is paid for by Google ads. Google and its partners use cookies to show and measure those ads. Visitors in Europe, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first.

Who runs this site

milescalculator.org is an independently run website. It isn't affiliated with any airline or loyalty programme. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the site's operator.

What the calculators do with what you enter

The airports, fares, tiers and other details you enter are processed only in your browser. They are never sent to us.

To save you retyping, your browser remembers your last route and settings using its local storage. This stays on your device, we can't see it, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for milescalculator.org.

Information collected when you visit

Hosting

Our hosting provider, Netlify, receives the technical information every browser sends when loading a web page. This includes your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Netlify uses it to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and keeps it for a limited period under its own policies.

Fonts and code libraries

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and code libraries from cdnjs, which is run by Cloudflare. When your browser fetches these files, those providers receive your IP address and browser details.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can see how Google uses this information in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of other vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info, or in Europe at youronlinechoices.eu. If you opt out, you'll still see ads, but they won't be based on your browsing.

Your consent choices

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you'll see a consent message before any advertising cookies are used. You can accept, refuse or choose which purposes to allow, and change your choices at any time using the privacy settings link that appears on the page.

Wherever you are, you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators work fully without cookies.

Legal basis, for visitors in Europe and the UK

We rely on your consent for advertising cookies. Hosting logs and security measures are based on our legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure website.

Where your information is processed

Our providers, including Netlify, Google and Cloudflare, may process information in the United States and other countries outside the country you're in. They use contractual and other safeguards for these transfers, as described in their own privacy policies.

Your rights

Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, you can ask what personal data an organisation holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, and withdraw consent you've given.

If you're in the European Economic Area or the UK, you also have the right to have your data deleted or restricted, to object to its use, to receive a copy in a portable form, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

We don't hold personal data about you ourselves beyond what's described above, but we'll help with any request. Email admin@milescalculator.org and we'll reply within 30 days. For information held by Google or Netlify, you can also contact them directly.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them.

Links to other websites

We link to airline and loyalty programme websites. Their privacy practices are their own, so please read their policies when you visit them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, for example by adding analytics, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
