China Eastern Eastern Miles guide
Rules checked October 5, 2026
Eastern Miles is the program of China Eastern Airlines and its sister airlines Shanghai Airlines and China United Airlines, and China Eastern is a member of SkyTeam. Points depend on the fare you pay, while status comes from qualifying kilometers or flights and a minimum amount of ticket spend. The rules below are from China Eastern's own member's guide, which is in Chinese.

| Alliance | SkyTeam |
|---|---|
| How you earn points | The fare including fuel surcharge × a rate that rises with your level, on China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and China United flights |
| Status currency | Qualifying flights or qualifying kilometers, plus annual ticket spend |

| Levels | 1 to 6 stars, then Silver, Gold and Platinum cards |
Earning points on China Eastern flights
Points (called 点) equal your fare, including the fuel surcharge, times a rate that depends on your level. Booking through China Eastern's app, website or 95530 hotline pays a rate 10% higher than booking elsewhere.
| Level | Booked with China Eastern (app, website, 95530) | Booked elsewhere |
|---|---|---|
| 1 star | 0.264 | 0.24 |
| 2 stars | 0.44 | 0.4 |
| 3 stars | 0.66 | 0.6 |
| 4 stars | 0.792 | 0.72 |
| 5 stars | 0.88 | 0.8 |
| 6 stars | 0.968 | 0.88 |
| Silver | 1.056 | 0.96 |
| Gold | 1.144 | 1.04 |
| Platinum | 1.232 | 1.12 |
A CN¥2,000 fare booked with China Eastern earns 528 points at 1 star and 2,464 at Platinum. Reward tickets in classes A, O and X, infant tickets and charter flights earn nothing. Points expire after 36 months with no points activity.
Qualifying kilometers, flights and spend
- Qualifying kilometers are the standard (IATA) distance of each segment, with no multiplier for the cabin you fly. They come from China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and China United flights and from SkyTeam flights.
- Qualifying flights count one for every flight you take, on those same airlines.
- Annual ticket spend is the fare including fuel surcharge on China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and China United flights. Codeshare flights and SkyTeam partner flights don't add to it.
Status
Since January 1, 2025, you reach a level when, within 12 consecutive calendar months, you have either the flights or the kilometers below, and the annual spend:
| Level | Qualifying flights, or | Qualifying kilometers | Annual spend (CN¥) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 stars | 3 | 4,500 | 3,000 |
| 3 stars | 5 | 6,500 | 5,500 |
| 4 stars | 7 | 8,500 | 8,500 |
| 5 stars | 9 | 10,500 | 12,000 |
| 6 stars | 11 | 12,500 | 16,000 |
| Silver | 13 | 15,000 | 20,000 |
| Gold | 25 | 25,000 | 40,000 |
| Platinum | 45 | 55,000 | 100,000 |
From July 1, 2025, the same targets apply to keeping a level, and the spend is required in every case. Members who keep a Silver, Gold or Platinum card year after year need fewer flights or kilometers: Silver needs 12 flights or 14,250 km the second time and 11 or 13,500 the third time or later, Gold 24 or 23,750 and then 23 or 22,500, and Platinum 43 or 52,250 and then 41 or 49,500. The spend never gets cheaper. If you beat a target, the excess flights, kilometers and spend can be saved toward your next renewal.
A level lasts until the end of the same month the following year. Silver gives SkyTeam Elite status, and Gold and Platinum give SkyTeam Elite Plus. Platinum members also get 20 free domestic upgrade coupons and 4 international and regional ones each membership period.
Earning on partner airlines
Flights on SkyTeam airlines earn points, qualifying kilometers and qualifying flights, using a table China Eastern publishes for each airline. Any flight under 500 km counts as 500 km. Japan Airlines, Qantas and Etihad pay points but no qualifying kilometers or flights. The calculator covers 17 SkyTeam airlines.
