Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles guide

Miles&Smiles is Turkish Airlines' programme and a member of Star Alliance. It's popular with frequent flyers far beyond Türkiye because its Elite tier gives Star Alliance Gold for 40,000 Status Miles, and that status lasts two years.

Flights within Türkiye earn a fixed amount per flight instead. The minimums make short international flights surprisingly rewarding.

*Elite members living in Türkiye need 30,000 in the first year or 45,000 over two years.
Things to watch
- The cheapest economy fares earn a quarter of the distance. Check the booking class before you book if you're chasing status.
- Award tickets don't count towards status.
- You don't need to live in Türkiye. Many members credit Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa or other Star Alliance flights to Miles&Smiles, though partner airlines earn at their own rates.
Who it suits
Miles&Smiles is a strong choice if your main goal is Star Alliance Gold: lounge access, priority check-in and extra baggage across the alliance. The two-year status and generous minimums help people who fly in bursts. See why your home airline's programme isn't always the best.
