Cathay Pacific guide: Status Points and tiers

Cathay membership, formerly Marco Polo Club, is Cathay Pacific's programme and a member of oneworld. You earn Asia Miles to spend and Status Points towards tiers, both fixed per flight by distance zone and fare type.

Earning on Cathay Pacific flights
Flights fall into six distance zones, from very short to ultra-long-haul, and each fare type has a fixed amount per zone. For example, Economy Flex in booking classes Y, B, H or K earns from 25 Status Points on the shortest flights to 90 on the longest, while Economy Light in the cheapest classes earns from 6 to 40. Business Flex earns 30 to 150, and First 35 to 180.

You also need at least one eligible Cathay Pacific flight in the year. From 2027, Gold members and above can carry over up to half their requirement into the next year.
Things to watch
- Fare type matters as much as booking class. The same seat earns very different Status Points as Light, Essential or Flex.
- Some short routes earn more. Flights of 751 to 2,750 miles to or from Japan, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal or Bangladesh fall in a higher zone.
Who it suits
Travellers based in Hong Kong or who fly Cathay regularly around Asia. Because points are fixed per flight, several short trips can count for more than one long one.
