AAdvantage is American Airlines' programme and a member of oneworld. Miles are based on what you spend, and status is measured in Loyalty Points, which you earn from flying and from spending with American's partners and credit cards.

On American's own flights, you earn one Loyalty Point for every award mile, including your status bonus.

Things to watch
- Basic Economy. Basic Economy tickets booked from 17 December 2025 earn no miles and no Loyalty Points.
- Spending counts too. Loyalty Points also come from AAdvantage credit cards and shopping and dining partners, so US residents can build status without flying much.
- The year runs from March. Plan big trips around the 1 March reset.
Who it suits
AAdvantage suits American Airlines flyers and US residents who can add credit card and partner spending to their flying.
