Qantas Frequent Flyer is Australia's biggest loyalty programme and a member of oneworld. Qantas gives a fixed number of Qantas Points and Status Credits per flight from its own route tables, set by the route and the fare you book.

Earning on Qantas flights

Flights are grouped into route bands, such as short, medium and long domestic flights, trans-Tasman flights and long-haul zones, and each band has a table by fare category, from Discount Economy up to First. For example, a short domestic flight earns 10 Status Credits in Discount Economy or Economy, 20 in Flexible Economy or Premium Economy, 40 in Business and 60 in First. Longer routes earn more.

Status

Every tier also needs at least four eligible Qantas or Jetstar flights. Qantas has said the lower targets for keeping a tier will be removed from late 2027, so keeping a tier will then need the same as reaching it.

Changes from 8 December 2026

• Status Credits on the ground. Members can earn up to 140 Status Credits a year through Qantas Points from everyday activity such as credit cards, hotels and shopping.
• Rollover. Members with status can carry up to half of their excess Status Credits into the next year.

Things to watch

• Discount fares earn much less. Moving from Discount Economy to Flexible Economy often doubles the Status Credits.
• Upgrades earn at the fare originally paid.
• The calculator counts flights only. Add any Status Credits earned on the ground to your own total.

Who it suits

Anyone based in Australia who flies Qantas or Jetstar regularly. Outside Australia, other oneworld programmes, such as Royal Jordanian or Malaysia Airlines Enrich, may reach oneworld Sapphire with less flying. See how to choose a programme.
