Flying Blue is the shared programme of Air France and KLM, and a member of SkyTeam. Status comes from Experience Points (XP), a fixed amount per flight by distance and cabin, while the miles you spend are earned per euro.

Flights within one country count as domestic. The longer bands cover increasingly long flights, up to the longest intercontinental routes.

Reaching a tier uses up that many XP, and you then earn towards the next one from there.
Miles to spend
Miles are earned per euro of fare and airline surcharges: 4 for Explorer members, 6 for Silver, 7 for Gold and 8 for Platinum.
Who it suits
Frequent Air France and KLM flyers, and anyone crediting SkyTeam flights such as Delta, Korean Air or Vietnam Airlines who wants SkyTeam Elite Plus. The fixed XP bands mean cheap long-haul economy earns as much status as an expensive one.
